The reconstruction of a 120 year old mining town home blends history with the future, old stone with new silicon in its quest for Passive House certification.

Rather than the finishing touch, solar panels were installed first on this project in order to power the construction of the house with the sun.

Synthesizing straw bale/earthen plaster wall systems, structurally insulated panels, geothermal preconditioning for ERV air tempering, with reclaimed siding, reused concrete and hand quarried local stone from the original house create a fresh feel and a timeless look.
